In fall of 2013 The Edge Observer traveled to Fonthill. This small town is nestled in wine country, 30 minutes from Niagara Falls, Canada and is the home of custom knife maker Brian Tighe. Brian has been making his distinct custom knives for over 20 years and is a long time design collaborator with Columbia River Knife and Tool. He is also the North American distributor of Damasteel, a company that most notable produces a powder metallurgy damascus that can be seen in Brian’s high end models.
Over two days Brian was generous enough to lend his time and discuss the inspiration and history behind the knives. He also took us for a tour of his amazing studio, sharing his process and showing several projects in various stages of production.
So please, sit back and enjoy our first maker feature and let us know what you think in the comments below. Thanks for watching and be sure to check out our Brian Tighe Knives giveaway!
